Mobile Alabama

The beautiful city of Mobile Alabama had a reported population of 198,915 in the year 2000. The city obtained its name from Native American Mobilian tribe founded by French colonists in Mobile Bay. It is the only seaport in Alabama as it intersects Mobile Bay and the Mobile River in northern Gulf of Mexico and provides a mild subtropical climate due to its location in Gulf Mexico.

Mobile is distinguished from all other cities in Alabama since it is home to an array of cultural influences of Catholic, Creole, African, Spanish, British and French heritage. The yearly Carnival celebration is the best illustration of this and the history of Colored Carnival and authentic artifacts from the era of slavery are being featured in the National African American Archives and Museums.
