Alabama fishing offers many opportunities if you find the sea or lake very enjoyable.

For this, a specialized camp site – The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries in Alabama has 47 reservoirs and 23 public fishing lakes available for their campers.

Alabama Gulf Coast Fishing

The Alabama Fisheries Division offers technical assistance to Alabama pond owners, while for saltwater fishing, the Alabama Marine Division manages the estuaries and salt water resources along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. It manages Alabama’s marine fisheries resources with assessment and monitoring, applied research and enforcement program.

Aside from Alabama camping, you have the chance to witness and participate in the kid’s fishing event in Alabama that includes restoration of aquatic habitat and rare Alabama aquatic animals. It is truly a great educational experience for your kids.  Also, it is a great avenue to learn a lot of things about proper fishing techniques.

Alabama Fishing Lakes

If by chance you want to go fishing with your family, the Alabama fishing lakes are a great place to experience the thrill and excitement of catching big largemouth bass or bream in a secure setting. Of course you will want to secure an Alabama fishing license to support fish management and aquatic resources.

Some of the Alabama fishing regulations that go with getting a fishing license include:

  • Size limits of the fish you may catch – To illustrate, if you caught a black bass fish less than 14 inches in total length, you must return it at once back to the water. You are only allowed to get fishes that are 20 inches and above in length.
  • You should take note of some fishes that are considered to be among the endangered aquatic species such as paddle fish or spoonbill and rainbow trout. When you caught any by accident, it should be immediately returned to the water.
  • You are not allowed to intrude onto the fishing grounds of another camping site without the permission of the camp owner or operator.

Alabama Fishing Week is an annual event happening each year… you can add to your fishing vacation.
